Summer brings about new and special feelings. It could be the warmth of the sun, the juicy taste of peaches or mangos, or the refreshing sensation of swimming that many of us long for and cherish. The summer season holds a special place in our memories because of these experiences.

We can harness these strong emotions to practice gratitude. Gratitude is a superpower, especially when we express it for things we love and can recall the associated feelings. Remembering the warmth of the sun or the sweetness of summer fruits is like reliving a happy moment. The ability to relive those experiences is the actual superpower. Now, imagine doing this daily.

This is a gratitude practice. Every day, list and feel three things for which you are grateful. It’s helpful if the list has new items on it every day, but there’s nothing wrong with repeating items from time to time. A daily gratitude practice can shield you against daily challenges. Negativity is ever-present, and gratitude is the antidote. In the beginning, you may benefit from writing them down. It’s likely that daily gratitude will become a habit if you write them down for 3-5 months. Later, you may be able to recall them instantly when you need a shield. Just as we regularly charge our devices, practicing gratitude is an important way to recharge for positivity.

What three things are you grateful for today?
