On this second day of a new year, many people hope to start resolutions, make a change, or achieve something different. I’ve always believed that any day can be the beginning, not just a new year.

It’s not only worthwhile to have dreams, plan for the steps that will take you there but also to believe and act to take those steps. I have listed out the steps of a dream but never find the time to act on them. Sometimes everyday life gets in the way or there are too many items on a never-ending list.

But, when I stop to reassess, I see that tasks we once considered crucial either find their way to completion through small, incremental steps, or naturally fall away as priorities evolve. Monitoring progress is crucial to any plan. Several months ago, I changed my diet. I eliminated some ingredients or drastically reduced how often I eat something. This week I made a list of foods I reduced and was surprised to find over 20 ingredients. This retrospective gave me a clear vision of how far I had come. It gave me a sense of accomplishment.

Dreams, goals, plans, and tasks take you halfway into your journey. Belief, determination, and commitment that “someday is now” lead to action. While strategic planning forms the foundation of any endeavor, the combination of unwavering belief, steady determination, and daily commitment bridges the gap between intention and implementation. Each small decision to act builds momentum toward meaningful change.

Perhaps it’s time to review your carefully crafted plans and ask: Which goal is ready to move from “someday” to “now”?
